By Gert Louw | GertFITNESS

For years I shared my journey of fitness for older men, showing what’s possible with discipline, resistance training, and a healthy diet. Alongside the advice and coaching, I often posted Speedo photos to display the results of hard work.

At the time, I thought I was motivating men to take their health seriously. But as I’ve grown in Christ, I’ve come to see that displaying myself this way is not the message I want to send. It does not reflect the Biblical masculinity that I now stand for.

This will be the last Speedo photo I ever post online.

Strength With Purpose, Not Vanity

Biblical masculinity calls men to strength, leadership, and humility under God. Yes, we train. Yes, we build muscle. Yes, we fight sarcopenia, fat gain, and weakness after 40. But we do not flaunt ourselves for validation or vanity.

Our strength is meant to serve our families, protect those in our care, and glorify God—not to parade ourselves before the world.

Muscles fade. Pride fades. Vanity fades.
But Christ endures forever.

The Body as a Temple of Christ

Scripture reminds us in 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. Training and nutrition for older men are tools of stewardship—we honor God by caring for the body He gave us.

But modesty matters. Humility matters. Living out true Christian fitness means pointing people to Christ’s power, not our abs or our physiques.

The Call of Biblical Masculinity

True masculinity for me is not found in posing, showing off, or seeking attention. It is found in:

  • Discipline — training consistently and living with self-control.
  • Responsibility — leading our families with strength and integrity.
  • Courage — standing for truth even when it costs us.
  • Humility — giving all glory to Christ, not to ourselves.

This is the kind of manhood God calls us to. This is Biblical masculinity—and it’s far greater than what any gym mirror can reflect.

Why This Will Be My Last Speedo Photo

From now on, I refuse to present myself in a way that feeds vanity or undermines my witness. My coaching, my posts, and my content will focus on:

  • Fitness for men over 40 and 50 and even 60, built on discipline and health.
  • Strength training and fat loss as tools to extend life and purpose.
  • Faith-driven fitness coaching, pointing men toward Christ.
  • Biblical masculinity, not worldly masculinity.

This is the direction God has placed on my heart, and this is where I stand.

A Word to Men Reading This

Brothers, take your training seriously. Build muscle, stay lean, fight weakness. But do it with humility. Do it for your family. Do it for your mission. Do it for Christ.

When people look at you, let them see not just a strong body, but a strong man of God—a leader, a protector, a servant, a warrior of faith.

This is the call of Biblical masculinity. This is the legacy worth leaving behind.

Final Word

So yes—this was the last Speedo photo I will ever post. From here on, my journey is about building men who are not only strong in the gym, but strong in Christ.

All glory, all honor, all strength—to Jesus Christ.

Time? now that might be an issue – lol. I am from Cape Town, South Africa, so 11am (Cape Town time) is a good time (just before me heading to gym). Got no idea where you are living on this world, so check the time zones and let’s try and connect! Have an awesome weekend mate!
