I am 59 years old (born in 1964) and my name is Gert Louw. I am from Cape Town,
South Africa. Stunning and beautiful place!

Welcome to my blog, where I passionately chronicle my life’s journey, with a fiery focus on fitness and the many facets of masculinity.

Let’s talk fitness, shall we? Cardio has never been my forte, as my body simply wasn’t built for it. But you know what gets my blood pumping and ignites my spirit? Lifting weights. The battle against the iron, the raw power it demands— that’s where I come alive. I’m the kind of guy who brings the noise in the gym, making my presence known during intense workouts. That’s just my fun little quirk!

But fitness is just the tip of the iceberg for me. I live and breathe Karate, Judo, and wrestling, not to mention my years of fearless surfing. I poured my heart and soul into Karate for nearly 15 years, followed by 4 years of Judo. And let’s not forget that brief yet adrenaline-soaked adventure in kickboxing that ended with my teeth piercing through my lip in a glorious, albeit bloody, mess. But if you ask me, wrestling takes the crown with its raw power and unyielding confrontation. I’m head over heels for it.

Now, when it’s time to unwind, I delve into my passion for home theater, create captivating YouTube videos, cherish precious moments with my beloved family, and embark on thrilling adventures in nature through the art of surfing.

Let me tell you, the road I’ve traveled in this crazy thing called life, especially in the past 19 years, has been a relentless uphill battle. It taught me resilience, teaching me how to rise from the depths of rock bottom on multiple fronts. It showed me that one can achieve unimaginable heights, even against all odds. So, to those facing similar struggles, this blog is a beacon of hope, an inspiration. Here, I share my fitness journey, transformational wisdom, and even delve into my spiritual growth.

I want to make one thing crystal clear: I am not here to make a quick buck. My website is not filled with shameless promotions or sales pitches. The only thing I offer for purchase are my Coaching Systems. There are no hidden agendas, no ulterior motives. The information I provide is authentic, unfiltered, and honest. It’s a raw depiction of life’s bitter truths as well as its breathtaking beauty and wonder.

Above all, this blog serves as a platform where I strive to empower men to live healthier lives and become the absolute best versions of themselves, both inside and out. It’s my legacy, a torch I hope to pass on to my one and only son, who at 17 years old, towers over me and is making remarkable strides in weightlifting—I can’t wait to brag proudly about his muscular achievements!

My journey toward a healthier lifestyle began after a brush with death at 40, facing severe kidney and liver damage. Then, at the age of 53, I had an even closer call, with near-complete liver failure caused by a relentless Hepatitis A infection. I won’t dwell on the gruesome details, but since turning 40—19 years after defying a two-year life expectancy— I’ve been fueled by the grace of God. I want to show every person out there trapped in desperate or dark places that rising up and surpassing their wildest dreams is not only possible but within their grasp.

Having weathered many trials and tribulations, my utmost mission is to uplift and inspire fellow men as they navigate the path to a wholesome and transformative existence. While the sands of time remain uncertain, I am determined to excel as a bodybuilder, a devoted father, a loving husband, and a loyal friend to all who cross my path. My aspiration is not merely to chase exhilarating adventures but to lead a life of profound meaning and purpose.

With each passing day, I embrace the concept of mortality and the transient nature of our existence. It is through this lens that I offer you my perspective on this profound topic:

~DEATH~ 

A sick man turned to his doctor as he was preparing to 
leave the examination room and said, 
‘Doctor, I am afraid to die. 
Tell me what lies on the other side…’ 
Very quietly, the doctor said, ‘I don’t know…’ 
‘You don’t know? You’re, a Christian man,
and don’t know what’s on the other side?’ 
The doctor was holding the handle of the door;
On the other side came a sound of scratching and whining, 
and as he opened the door, a dog sprang into the room 
and leaped on him with an eager show of gladness. 
Turning to the patient, the doctor said, 
‘Did you notice my dog? 
He’s never been in this room before. 
He didn’t know what was inside… 
He knew nothing except that his master was here, 
and when the door opened, he sprang in without fear. 
I know little of what is on the other side of death, 
but I do know one thing… 
I know my Master is there and that is enough.’
