The hand you’ve been dealt with…

Those of you that know me a bit better, will know that the hand of cards I have been dealt with in the last 12 years is, well, not (!) a good hand.

Gert Louw PAIN1

Twice now I had very close calls with death and been fighting the good battle non-stop the past 12 years. Lots of pain, kidney problems, liver problems and many other serious health issues with very dark clouds hanging over me.

But you know what, through it all, I’ve put my poker face on and played that hand of cards to the best of my ability! I have grown immensely as a person. Suffering and pain and dark clouds hanging over your future is the BEST opportunity to become the YOU, you never was. Does not matter what your prognosis…you will not exhale that last breath until God decide it is time. Make this an opportunity to look into that mirror and say “I like what I see, I like the heart of the person looking back at me!”. Apart from personal growth it also allowed me to grow in my walk of faith with God. Let this be your moment with God Almighty…believe me nothing brings more peace and hope.

No-one is going to live forever, tomorrow might be your last day, you might be run over, no one knows. So stand tall and stand proud, whatever dark cloud is hanging over you is irrelevant…play that hand of cards with your best poker face and win!

  1. hi there!!! sincei get the Bronchitis 2 years ago is hard to me to do weight training, some days i feel good, some days i cant even get up from my bed, like right know i have 2 weeks with very bad cough and Bronchitis,i dont want to take more antibiotics,i start taking natural antibiotics like garlic, ginger, red onion and raw honey, all i want is to feel better to go back to training.

    1. Hi Juan – I strongly recommend that you get yourself tested for TB (tuberculosis). Recurring or slow healing bronchitus is many times a sign of TB. TB is fully treatable but dangerous left untreated. You will HAVE to take the meds prescribed for your condition. Not doing it will result in slow healing and sometimes no healing (if it is TB). Natural stuff is good but not when one is faced with a serious illness. Wish you healing soon my friend! God bless…

  2. Gert can you clarify cutting diet 1 says 233g of fat on day Saturday for a glass of red wine? Can’t be. Thanks.

    1. The value 233g is in the wrong column. It must be in the CARB column not the fat column. Sharp!
Nutritionist to competing bodybuilders, Bernadette Beyer, worked out these values.
      Wish you great day!

  4. Hi ,

bit of an undertone to your mail, but hope there is an upside also ….

I guess I found you 3 yrs or so back , the HIV post being the catalyst to that,

I could complain as I am a 65 yo (straight) guy who managed to get HIV from a girlfriend who got raped and never told me (sadly she has since died )

I appreciate the info from your HIV post and it is in my mindset.

Health wise I have no problems, just the inconvenience of taking one tablet/day (Eviplera) with 400 calories (breakfast) been positive now for 7 yrs, but never seem to have any (known) health problems, pretty sure I am fitter than most of my age.

I have only just (10 weeks) managed to get lifting again and will maintain this in the UK, hopefully returning to Thailand later in the year, then to find a gym again there…

Anyway thanks very much for the information you provided, I would say it has proved invaluable and a positive thing for me ….

Take Care and all the Best for You …

    Jim

    1. Hey Jim – yeah man the hand of cards could be harsh sometimes…but even with that, life is still so precious and so beautiful and we still have this God given ability to rise from the ashes and become what we thought never possible. So be blessed and if you need encouragement…contact me anytime. Gert

  5. Thank you for sharing your struggles. I am facing some tough situations now and ask for your prayers.
